NABFEME is the National Association
of Black Female Executives in Music & Entertainment, Inc.
A 501 (c) (6) nonprofit professional organization led by volunteer
entertainment executives, NABFEME was launched in February
1999 with a mission to raise the profile and elevate the awareness
of Black women in music and entertainment.
NABFEME accomplishes its mission through activities
that foster empowerment, education, mentoring, career development
and networking. The primary purpose of the organization is
to promote the entry, development and advancement of women
of color in music and entertainment.
NABFEME is committed to the development
of support and enrichment programs, corporate partnerships
and the creation of alliances that will help to provide opportunities
for our members to achieve their professional and personal
goals.
Former DreamWorks Records Head of Urban Promotion, , founded NABFEME in 1998. Before taking the
reins at DreamWorks, Walker had previously served as Senior
Vice President of R&B Promotion at the Island Def Jam
Music Group, having joined the staff of Def Jam Recordings
in 1990 at the personal invitation of label founder Russell
Simmons. During her 14-year tenure at the Island Def Jam Music
Group, Walker was instrumental in developing the careers of
some of the biggest names in recorded music including Jay-Z,
Ja Rule, Ashanti, Ludacris, DMX, LL Cool J, Musiq, Dru Hill,
Foxy Brown, Method Man, Case, Onyx and Montell Jordan, as
well as fostering the success of the "Rush Hour"
and "The Nutty Professor" soundtracks, among numerous
other projects.
The Executive Board of NABFEME is comprised of women from
many different sectors of the business world and the entertainment
industry. The organization's COO and annual Women's Leadership
Summit Executive Director is Elektra Entertainment VP, Michelle
Madison, Ramona Harrison serves as CFO, while veteran radio
announcer/Program Director Pam Wells serves as the organization's
Vice President.
The Mission
The mission of NABFEME is to elevate the awareness of Black
women in music and entertainment through activities that foster
empowerment, education, mentoring, career development and
networking opportunities.

To promote the entry, development and advancement of Black
women in music and entertainment.
The Vision
To be recognized as the world's most respected professional
organization for women of color in entertainment, while working
together to create value and build loyalty one opportunity
at a time.
