Rising Young Executive

Stephanie Abdullah

A Rising Young Executive in the music and entertainment business, Stephanie Abdullah is climbing the ladder of success!! Most recently she served as a public relations account executive at Pacific Communications Group, a PR firm in Los Angeles. A native of St. Louis, MO by way of Oakland, CA… Stephanie graduated with a BA in Mass Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations from California State University, Hayward in June 1995.

Prior to graduation, she served as an intern for Gwen Priestley at Motown Records where she worked with artists like Boyz II Men, Shanice, and Queen Latifah. Later, Stephanie moved over to Arista records where she got her PR feet even wetter working with big names like TLC, Notorious B.I.G. and Craig Mack.

With these gigs under her belt, Stephanie Abdullah landed a position as the promotions coordinator at Bass Tickets, where she managed the production process of several of the company’s marketing vehicles including a monthly entertainment insert in Ticketmaster’s LIVE! Magazine; she also participated in numerous event promotions for clients such as Bill Graham Presents, WWF, Harlem Globetrotters, Oakland A’s, and more.

A Public Affairs Specialist and Journalist who holds the rank of Sergeant in the U.S. Army Reserve, Stephanie has always had a passion for the entertainment industry. A huge fan of 80s groups like New Edition and Debarge, she often wondered how she could translate what she loved into a career. “I couldn’t sing, I couldn’t dance, or act. But, I was a good talker, a good writer and very resourceful, she said.” After a brainstorming session with a friend about what transferable skills she did have, a major change took place and an aspiring publicist was born! The former nursing major then began to focus her energy on becoming a top entertainment publicist.

In 1999 Stephanie decided to move full steam ahead to achieve her goals and relocated from the Bay Area to Hollywood. She then landed a publicity assistant gig at Levine Communications and worked on projects involving Suzanne Somers, Lisa Raye, and Walter Latham of Kings of Comedy fame. Stephanie also worked as the publicity coordinator at the famous Oh! My Nappy Hair Salon, which boast clients such as Larenz and Lamar Tate, Sommore, Nia Long, Halle Berry, Eric Benet, Sonya Norwood and even rocker Tommy Lee. She also works on publicity projects for the Punany Poets who were featured on HBO’s Real Sex and most recently BET’s Lifetraks.

The newly married-aspiring entertainment publicity extraordinaire says she hasn’t reached her dream job yet, but is currently praying the Prayer of Jabez and says that God is good and she has faith that her prayers will be answered.
