Changamiré
DC based Jazz/R&B Artist
Changamiré has been singing and training
in vocal music for most of her life. She was introduced to
jazz at the age of 13 and instantly took to the music. Later,
she attended jam sessions throughout Washington, DC and discovered
that formal training was needed for the avenue she was pursuing.
She took vocal coaching from various teachers like Glenn Turner,
formally of Gil Scott Herons band and jazz vocalist
Ronnie Wells.
Even after being was exposed to such incredible
musical talent, a sole commitment to music still was not made.
Working outside of the music industry, Changamiré worked
for BZD Int'l, a public relations firm in Washington, DC for
one year. There, she acquired PR and management skills. The
job inspired the launching of Changamiré - The Boutique,
a unique vendor gift shop. Realizing her successful PR and
presentation talents, she began promoting local events that
often yielded record-breaking attendances.
Singing always playing a prevalent role
in her life
Changamiré met former MoJazz intern,
Darrell Newton who after hearing her sing, insisted that she
make a recording. This meeting and connection led to the creation
of her Jazz/R&B debut CD
Only Human.
Only Human was released in the summer of
2001. The project took three years to complete and was recorded
at the highest level of quality possible for an independent
artist, obtaining the talents of nationally known producers,
musicians and studios. As Executive Producer, Changamiré
includes a spectrum of music on the CD, ranging from a beautifully
lush 14-piece string section, to light rock, to a hip hop
remix! Pre-marketing of Only Human has yielded many high acclamations.
With the Internet as her main promotional
vehicle and one of the most beautiful voices the new century
has heard, Changamiré with diligence and professionalism
will prove to be an inspirational star to all who come in
contact with her music. Visit Changamiré at .
