Kim Cooper - New York Network President

Event producer, editor, photographer and
marketing executive Kimberly N. Cooper is blessed. One of
the hottest talents to emerge in the music and entertainment
industry, this gifted woman showcases her skills, abilities
and twelve years of experience behind the scenes. With success
in everything she touches, the budding executive continues
to prove that she's one to watch both now and in the future.
Currently a Talent Executive with Black
Entertainment Television (BET), Cooper books musical artists
and celebrities for 106&Park, 106&Prime, Rap City,
The Center and the How I'm Livin. The former Editor-in-Chief
of Impact, a 25-year-old music industry trade publication,
and Panel Director of its accompanying 16-year-old conference
the Impact Super Summit, Cooper began with its parent company
Vanguarde Media, Inc. in April 2000. She simultaneously held
two management positions at the publishing company, overseeing
subscription sales and music & entertainment marketing
respectively, before being ushered into the editorial position
in 2001. However, it was five years prior to the magazine's
2002 dissolution, that the dynamic talent with a love for
music began climbing the corporate ladder in the entertainment
industry.
In 1997, Cooper walked through the doors
of RCA Records as an administrative assistant and was soon
promoted to promotions coordinator. While working with the
VP of promotions, she developed A Dish of Soul. What started
as a compilation cassette for Impact Super Summit XII evolved
into a new music showcase in conjunction with Hennessy and
The Terrie Williams Agency introducing singing sensation Tyrese.
A year later, Cooper segued to the marketing department for
Elektra Entertainment Group, where she conceptualized and
implemented cross marketing and publicity opportunities for
Busta Rhymes, Yolanda Adams, Rah Digga and Mint Condition.
Her efforts garnered placements with Teen People and Sister
2 Sister magazines and fostered viable relationships with
Nike and Macy's.
Not one to shy from new opportunities, while
still at Elektra, Cooper took the position of Panel &
Public Relations Manager for Real Stories, a forum to educate
aspiring artists, producers, entrepreneurs and executives
on the music business. Also serving as moderator on select
discussions, Cooper is now the Director, and continues to
engage the Real Stories audience on the nuances of the entertainment
industry. Also an accomplished writer, Cooper's works have
been published in Impact, NV, Showcase, Savoy, Honey and The
Source magazines.
As a testament to her gifts, in 2001, Cooper
was named the inaugural recipient of the Rising Young Executive
of the Year award by the National Association of Black Female
Executives in Music & Entertainment (NABFEME), and dubbed
a Phenomenal Woman by Community School District 5 in Harlem.
Cooper is an a member of the National Association of Recording
Arts and Sciences (NARAS) and serves as the NY Action Coordinator
for NABFEME (www.womenet.org) and Panel Director for its annual
Leadership Summit conference. A sought after speaker as well,
Cooper has participated in discussions with Jesse Jackson's
Rainbow/Push 2003 Wall Street Project, The Hip-Hop Super Conference
& Expo and the Career Development Program at Chicago's
Columbia College to name a few.
Cooper has also developed a brand marketing
consultancy firm, BG Unlimited, Inc. specializing in the areas
of strategic marketing, event production, career development/public
relations and editorial initiatives. "I've taken all
of my skills and experiences in order to provide a service
that empowers and educates my clients and my community"
remarks Cooper. Clients have included producer/entrepreneur
Edward "Eddie F" Ferrell, the original DJ of Heavy
D. & the Boys and founder of Untouchables Entertainment
Group (Donell Jones), Francois Gifts, a hand crafted luxury
candle collection, Fox Searchlite, and Columbia Records to
name a few. Cooper regards her success and leap into entrepreneurship
proclaiming, "I live by 2 Corinthians 5:7 'We live by
faith, not by sight.' " A graduate of Wesleyan University
in Middletown, CT with a BA in government, Cooper is equipped
with a stellar resume, an eye for opportunity, a knack for
networking and the motivation to prosper.
