Melody Spann-Cooper
President and General Manager of radio station, WVON
In August 1994, Melody Spann-Cooper was
appointed President and General Manager of radio station,
WVON. Prior to that appointment, she served as Program Director
of WVON, overseeing a staff of 15 talk show hosts, producers
and engineers who were responsible for preparing topics and
issues for Chicago's only African American talk oriented radio
station. Melody Spann-Cooper has made numerous appearances
on CNN's "Crossfire' and CNN & Company. She co-hosted
"Voices of the Electorate," a 5-part series that
dealt with a national agenda for African Americans. Ms Spann
is the former Vice President of Broadcast for the Chicago
Association of Black Journalists. She is the former Chairman
of the Media Advocacy Committee. A recipient of many awards,
she is a graduate of Loyola University with a Bachelor of
Science degree in Criminal Justice. We salute Melody Spann-Cooper...
