VH-1 fans, let's go behind the scenes and
meet Freelance Segment Producer Delores Edwards. Currently
working with VH-1 on the new series TV Moments, Delores writes
and produces several pieces in the hour-long show. Keeping
her talents and contacts diverse, Delores has and continues
to produce several pieces for NY*LA, BET's new entertainment
and lifestyle magazine program. Her credit with this show:
Full Producer! In addition, she also acts as a Contributing
Writer for Mosaec Online, a cultural online website. And,
not only does Delores manage all this... she is busy working
to get several feature length documentaries off the ground,
as well as considering writing a book!
With boundless energy and talent, Delores
Edwards was a staff member with Good Day New York for four
and a half years. She produced everything from news and features
to entertainment, both a live and taped. Delores has worked
in network and local news, documentary and entertainment programming
for more than ten years. She joined Good Day New York, an
award-winning live morning television program based in New
York, as a Segment Producer in 1997. There she has written
and produced live and videotaped features focusing on news,
lifestyle and culture in and around New York City.
In 1996, she was an Associate Producer on
IMAGING AMERICA, a national three-part magazine series for
PBS. Edwards wrote the program outline for the Phoenix, Arizona
hour and developed show themes. She also co-produced several
segments for the series. NBC News correspondent, Soledad O'Brien
served as the host.
From 1993 to 1996, Edwards worked on several
documentary projects and television specials. She was the
Co-Producer of THE MEN OF THE USS MASON, an hour-long film
for PBS that chronicled the plight of African-American servicemen
in the Navy during World War II. Ossie Davis narrated the
program. She was also an Associate Producer on the A&E
"Biography" hours on Texas billionaire and former
presidential candidate, H. Ross Perot and a research consultant
for the hour about Grammy-Award winning singer/actress, Madonna.
Ms Edwards has served on the production
staff of numerous ABC News specials, aired nationally by the
network and hosted by Diane Sawyer and Peter Jennings. She
was a researcher for MURDER IN BEVERLY HILLS: THE MENENDEZ
TRIALS. She was the Associate Producer for several major programs,
including, PRESIDENT CLINTON: ANSWERING CHILDREN'S QUESTIONS;
the second live broadcast from the White House on the social
ills and problems that children face today. KIDS IN THE CROSSFIRE
with former Attorney General Janet Reno and PREJUDICE: ANSWERING
CHILREN'S QUESTIONS which examined the impact of prejudice
on children in our society. This program won several awards,
including the CINE Golden Eagle and Gabriel Award. Ms Edwards
produced several profiles for each of these specials.
An avid traveler, Delores Edwards became
a Segment Producer with LIFESTYLES OF THE RICH AND FAMOUS
in 1992. She oversaw and negotiated all details of production
on shoots in the Caribbean, Europe and Asia. Her segments
for the program included celebrity segments with Jennifer
Lopez, Victoria Principal and Zsa Zsa Gabor's return to Budapest,
Hungary after 30 years.
From 1990-1992, Edwards was a Production
Associate for ABC news NIGHTLINE where she worked on the coverage
of the Gulf War, The Reunification of Germany, the Los Angeles
Riots and other international and national subjects. She also
served on the staff of 20/20.
Edwards began her career in 1989 as a desk
assistant for ABC News NIGHTLINE and ABC News WORLD NEWS TONIGHT
WITH PETER JENNINGS.
Born and raised in New York City, Delores
Edwards graduated with honors from Northeastern University,
with a Bachelor of Science degree in Group and Public Communications.
She also holds a Master of Science Degree from Columbia University's
Graduate School of Journalism.
