Lisa Ellis
Sr. Vice President, R&B/Crossover Promotion, Columbia
Records
NABFEME Premiere Executive Power Mover
Lisa Ellis is making leaps and bounds through out the music
industry. With the success of artists like Amerie, Will Smith
and others, Lisa is poised to command positions of power.
"One of the most creative and innovative
music executives I have ever worked with," that is the
description given by Charlie Walk, Executive Vice President
of Promotion, Columbia Records, when speaking of Lisa Ellis.
Charlie recently promoted Lisa to the newly created position
of Senior Vice President R&B/Rhythm-Crossover Promotion
at Columbia. The expanded executive position charges Ellis,
who joined the label in 1995 as a local promotion rep, with
leading the recently merged R&B/Rhythm-Crossover team
in securing airplay at multiple radio formats for a range
of Columbia artists. The promotion from Vice President National
Promotion West Coast and Vice President Crossover Promotion,
which she acquired in 2000, will allow Lisa the opportunity
to not only oversee the company's promotional efforts, but
also implement creative methods of exposure for the label's
roster. "She is uniquely gifted in her ability to sense
out, explore and maximize avenues of exposure for the music
she works with," explains Walk. Lisa reports to Charlie
Walk from Columbia's New York Offices.
The University of Maryland graduate launched
her career in marketing at Pepsi-Cola, moving on to CBS radio
at WPGC in Washington, DC and then to Reebok before joining
Columbia seven years ago. Highly lauded over the years as
Executive of the Year in Rhythm Crossover, Ellis will also
oversee the label's street marketing team and Rap Mix Show
department, divisions for which she was named Street Information
Network's - S.I.N. - Local Promotion Manager of the Year in
1997.
