Vivica A. Fox
Actress

Actress Vivica A. Fox is a bright light in Hollywood whose star has been soaring with roles in blockbuster movies like "Batman and Robin," "Independence Day," "Set It Off," "Booty Call," "Soul Food" "Why Do Fools Fall In Love" and most recently in the CBS Prime Time series, "City Of Angels."

City Of Angels is not the first time Vivica's career has blazed the TV screen. She also had guest starring roles in "Out All Night," where she played Patti LaBelle's hip-swinging daughter, "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," "In The House" with LL Cool J as well as "Beverly Hills 90210" and "Family Matters."

Born July 30, 1964, in South Bend, IN Vivica A. Fox is the youngest of four siblings. Her mother Everlyene Fox chose the name Vivica because of its image of colorful flowers and the middle name Anjanetta because it rolled off the tongue. Vivica insists that her name be spelled with her middle initial... she quips, "it's catchy." "People think I have to use the A because there's another Vivica Fox somewhere, but I'm unique."

Pointing out when she was a senior in High School, Vivica says, "I'd get in trouble all the time because I'd finish my work and immediately open movie magazines." Upon graduation, Fox announced to her family she was heading to Los Angeles to live with brother's girlfriend and grab the headlines she knew were waiting for her arrival. While most families might discourage a pretty girl's ambition at such a log shot, Fox's family saw enough promise and had the faith to let her go. Once in LA she enrolled in college and her no nonsense attitude toward hard work carried her. In between classes and auditioning, Vivica A. Fox held down a series of odd jobs, including retail sales at Waldenbooks, serving wieners at the Famous Amos Hot Dogs stand, and proudly displaying the smiling star logo on her uniform at Carl's Jr., a hamburger stand.

Her first television job was a commercial for Clearasil, where she ran from zits. According to Vivica, "I was so excited, so happy. I felt like...yes! I'm on my way!" After that shoot it was back to auditioning and waiting on tables... a routine that would become Vivica's norm. Audition in the day, change clothes in the back seat of her car if she didn't have time to stop at a gas station restroom between appointments.

Vivica's "discovery" would come one afternoon while having lunch in a Los Angeles restaurant where producer Trevor Walton approached her. He asked, "You've got a really great look... are you an actress?" Thinking the guy was hitting on her and thinking to herself, "yeah right, I heard that line before." Vivica didn't put much stock in Walton's question, however, she took his card and later called. It turned out Walton was legit and he got Vivica an agent and soon she landed a recurring role on the daytime soap, The Young and Restless.

Currently married to singer Sixx-Nine, when she's not sizzling up the silver screen, Fox likes to "chill" in her condo, play with her cats and watch basketball (Lakers, of course). Vivica says, "Fame makes your private time more important. I can't go anywhere now and be on the down low. I'm a lot more identifiable." But Ms fox has no complaints... "My life is so great right now and I'm loving every minute of it!"
