Tamara Francois
Talent Executive, BET
In the three short years since moving to
New York City, Tamara Francois has already made a name for
herself as a person to watch in the male-dominated Hip-Hop
music industry. Building on her experience with industry powerhouses
BMG and Sony Music, Tamara joined MCA Records, where she launched
countless new initiatives to integrate Internet promotions
into the overall marketing strategy of MCA's Black Music Division.
Tamara then left MCA to channel her vast
network of contacts and her entrepreneurial spirit into her
own independent consulting venture, MaraMedia where she provided
marketing and special event planning services to a client
roster including Ruff Ryders, MCA, HBO, and Essence.
While on hiatus, MaraMedia is also home
to the monthly panel discussion series, Real Stories. Now
in its third year, Real Stories has attracted top-level music
industry executives, artists, and producers that share with
aspiring artists an insider's point-of-view of what it really
takes to make it in the music business. Her success in developing
the series has not gone unnoticed, with write-ups in Billboard
and Source magazines. Tamara's work with Real Stories has
made her a much sought after consultant, leading her to work
on the Vibe Music Conference in 1999.
In the summer of 1999, Tamara joined Volume.com,
an HBO funded Internet venture. As the Associate Music Producer,
Tamara took her amazing insight on music and culture to an
emerging role on the Internet with this company. However,
never slowing her pace and constantly developing new opportunities,
Tamara recently left Volume.com and took her talents to BET
as a Talent Executive. YOU GO GIRL!
Her seemingly ceaseless energy and unique
perspective on life makes Tamara Francois clearly one of the
more refreshing and talented young professionals on today's
music and entertainment industry scene.
