Celestine Oglesby
Account Executive, Sports & Entertainment Practice Edelman, Chicago

 

Celeste Oglesby joined Edelman Public Relations in 1999 as a team player for the Diversity Marketing practice. In addition, she currently serves as Account Executive for the Sports & Entertainment Practice in the Chicago Edelman office. Oglesby provides daily client activities, program development, event management and media relations support for a diverse mix of Edelman accounts. Current and previous clients include Wrigley/Williams sisters, Blackvoices.com, Absolut, L’Oreal, Target, etc.

 

Oglesby’s background includes 14 years in retail (design and set up artistic merchandise and product displays, media relations, coordinating special events, sales promotions, conceptualizing, and designing marketing pieces such as coupons, ceiling graphics, rack top sale signs, and flyers, planning store remodels and grand openings, buying store fixturing, advertising, and visual merchandising collateral). She also has experience in print, film, TV, and theatre production including coordinating photo shoots, propping and styling sets, and working as an extra.

 

Prior to joining Edelman, Oglesby worked as an advertising and visual presentation manager for the JCPenney Company, Inc., where she provided leadership, counsel and coaching for in store/department merchandising, team involvement, special events, and buying/purchasing of visual display collateral. She also worked as a set designer for the Nugent Wenckus catalog advertising photography studio. Her creativity and keen interest in entertainment allowed her to pursue freelance work as a production assistant, wardrobe, and prop stylist for film and theatre productions. In addition, Oglesby worked for the Motorola Corporation within Motorola University as an assistant training coordinator, and with Motorola Corporate Communications as a public relations assistant.

 

Oglesby graduated cum laude from Northwood University, Midland, Michigan in 1999. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree, with a dual major in Marketing and Management. Oglesby also has an Associate of Arts degree in Fashion Merchandising.

 

Oglesby is affiliated with the following professional organizations: the American Marketing Association, National Association of Black Female Executives in Music and Entertainment (NABFEME), Fashion Group International, Chicago Association of Black Journalist, Black Public Relations Society, Chicago Advertising Federation, Women’s Advertising Club, and currently volunteers with the D’zert Club Teen Summit 1000.
