when Jean Riggins was named Executive Vice President and General
Manager of Universal Records. Formerly, Ms Riggins had served
as President of Black Music for the label.
Jean Riggins is no stranger to success and
powerful positions. Prior to joining Universal, Jean Riggins
served as Senior Vice President, Black Music at Arista Records
where she worked closely with such multi-platinum artists
and producers like Whitney Houston, LA Reid, and Kenny "Babyface"
Edmonds, Sean "Puffy" Combs, Aretha Franklin, Kenny
G., Dallas Austin and many more. During her tenure at Arista,
Jean founded the "Arista Reaching and Teaching (ART)
campaign, which raised monies to bolster various under funded
inner-city community based projects.
Before Arista, Ms Riggins served as Vice
President and General Manager, Black Music at Capitol Records.
During her tenure at Capitol, she also headed the Marketing
division and was instrumental in the careers of such artists
as CeCe Winans, MC Hammer, Steve Miller, Bonnie Raitt, Doobie
Brothers, Tina Turner and many others.
Jean Riggins, a torchbearer and bright shining
light of inspiration for women in the industry and anyone
desiring a successful career in music and entertainment. Her
most recent promotion recognizes the job she had already been
performing. Her history in the industry reflects uncommon
leadership, a keen sense of strategy in an extensive variety
of situations and an unwavering commitment to her craft.
