Juanita Stephens
In December 1983 Juanita Stephens began
her career as an assistant to the Director of Publicity at
MCA Records in New York. Within 4-years she had advanced to
become the first African-American female Vice President of
Publicity and Artist Development for a recorded music department.
After a 7-year stint at MCA Juanita had
gained the multi-format knowledge and experience she needed
to work various genres of music such as: country, heavy metal,
rock & roll, pop, R&B, jazz, gospel, hip hop, rap,
disco, and spoken word. She was later offered a position as
Personal Manager to then, superstar, Bobby Brown, whose pop
crossover success from the smash album, "Don't Be Cruel"
exceeded sales in excess of 10 million worldwide.
In March 2000, Juanita Stephens exited her
position as Vice President of Publicity and Media Relations
for Bad Boy Entertainment to attend New York University's
School for Professional Studies (NYU). Her courses included
New Media Online Communications and Advanced Public Relations
Writing Skills, which she completed August 2000. In the interim,
she remained an independent consultant to Bad Boy.
In addition to having solidified relationships
with, and knowledge of national and international media, Juanita
Stephens' abilities include handling multiple projects simultaneously,
strong leadership and problem solving techniques, a creative
initiative, and interpersonal oral and written communication
skills.
Her extensive background has afforded her
the opportunity to travel abroad, representing companies and
clients both domestically and internationally.
