Megan Tully
Administrative Assistant, Violator Management
During her final semester at Chatham College,
a small womens college in Pittsburgh, PA, where she
earned a double degree in English and Cultural Media Studies,
Megan Tully began her career as an intern at WAMO. After three
months as a member of the Promotions Department street team
she was offered the position of Assistant Marketing Director.
It was here that she learned the intricacies of an urban radio
station through the various events and promotions she helped
to produce. At WAMO she began to hone her skills in devising
and executing marketing plans to promote the station and its
staff within the community. She was pivotal in creating the
first annual womens conference hosted by the station
and assisted in implementing a quarterly entertainment newsletter
in addition to her varying other duties. Additional responsibilities
included overseeing the ten member street team, a constant
reminder of how she herself got attracted to this industry.
Deciding to return to New York City, where
she spent most of her childhood, Megan re-located and soon
began to work for MJI Broadcasting, a radio syndication and
programming boutique company, part of Clear Channel Worldwide.
Working for MJI/ Clear Channel, Megan served as Project Manager
for the Sales and Operation Departments. She learned a wealth
of information pertaining to the business side of radio while
acting as liaison between a nationwide sales team of fifteen
and by being the main contact person for all radio station
affiliates needing assistance.
While working at MJI/Clear Channel Megan
was called on by friends and colleagues to assist in creating
promotional ideas for various artists. These opportunities
brought a new sense of excitement and challenge that helped
her to realize what she was passionate about doing. She soon
decided that she needed to transition out of radio in order
to work more directly with artists. It was time for her to
utilize her creative talents to their full capacity while
assisting an artist in reaching their greatest potential.
Shortly after leaving MJI/ Clear Channel
as a result of a company merger, the opportunity to make this
transition presented itself. In April 2002, with the assistance
of a NABFEME mentor, Shelia Jenkins, Megan began interning
at Violator Management for Mona Scott and Donna Moore. Violator,
home of artists such as Missy Elliott, Busta Rhymes, Tweet,
Nore, Lil Mo, 50 Cent, and others continues to be a valuable
experience and insight to the artist side of the music and
entertainment industry. Again, within a few months her enthusiasm
and efficiency as an intern earned her the offer of a full-time
position working alongside one of Violators rising managers
and the VP of Marketing & Promotions. At Violator, Megan
is responsible for coordinating the daily schedule of artists.
Committed to continually expanding her knowledge
and skills, Megan Tully is determined to challenge herself
and strive for excellence. Approaching her twenty-fourth birthday,
this rising young executive remains grounded through prayer
and her relationship with family and friends. Her personal
goal is to always do her best while following the path God
has for her and helping others along the way. Her professional
goal is to create and execute the marketing for an album that
sells more than one cd per household. Megan thanks the NABFEME
organization and its members for their unyielding support
and encouragement.
