Each honoree embodies the power of achievement, leadership, and inspiration.

The Shero Honors

Every era has its trailblazers — women who rise above barriers, blaze new paths, and leave the world better than they found it. The Shero Honors celebrates these phenomenal women. They are leaders whose influence continues to inspire generations... their stories remind us that when women lead, the world listens.

First introduced at the 2001 NABFEME International Women’s Leadership Summit in Toronto as The Shero Hall of Fame, this celebration evolved, was renamed The Shero Honors and recognizes women whose groundbreaking careers have redefined excellence, innovation, and leadership across entertainment and related industries.

Significance of The Shero Honors

★ PURPOSE: The Shero Honors were created to spotlight women who have overcome exclusion in a historically male-dominated industry and transformed those challenges into platforms of insporation and empowerment. These women have used their voices, talents, and leadership to create meaningful change and inspire future generations.
★Honorees Each honoree represents diverse sectors of music, entertainment industry and related industries. Each recipient’s work stands as a testament to the power of perseverance and purpose. Past honorees include iconic figures such as Ruby Dee, Sylivia Rhone,Suzanne dePasse, Patti LaBelle, Dionne Warwick, Dr. Johnetta B. Cole, and Valerie Simpson to name a few.
★Significance The Shero Honors are a lifetime distinction. This award is not about popularity, but about impact — honoring extraordinary women whose legacies continue to shape the creative landscape and uplift the community of professional women of color worldwide.

The NABFEME Celebration of the Celebrity Mom honors extraordinary women whose stories are filled with faith, courage, and perseverance. These are the mothers who stood firm through challenges, believed in their children’s dreams, and nurtured the gifts that would one day light up the world. Through their strength and sacrifice, they’ve helped shape some of the brightest stars in music and entertainment. As Roberta Shields mother of rapper and actor Ludacris shared, “The journey was never about raising a star, but rather encouraging and supporting a child who became a star!”
